Desktop Engineer

The Desktop Engineer will engineer solutions and provide last resort support to end users, as well as escalation assistance to the Desktop Support team. He/she will have proven experience in all aspects of imaging and application deployment to end user devices managed by the Firm, including configuration, customization, implementation, testing, changes and operational support of the operating systems, and all deployed desktop and mobile applications. The Desktop Engineer will maintain critical systems at the Firm and provide thorough documentation on all current and newly implemented technologies.

  • Work with software manufacturers to maintain critical systems such as iManage, Windows 10, Office, Adobe, MobileIron and other third party applications.
  • Maintain and update standard desktop images and software including regression testing, automation of silent incremental and full updates utilizing System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Intune.
  • Responsible for end-to-end ownership of new technology implementations including assessment, identification, testing, deployment, and thorough documentation of all standard desktop hardware and software.
  • Perform tier 3 assessment and remediation support of large scale problems to reduce overall system failures as applicable.
  • Coordinate with the Security team to engineer solutions for end user device security via Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM).
  • Generate custom reports for software audit and compliance purposes.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to implement, maintain, support and enhance the end user device experience and work with the infrastructure team to ensure a common user experience between end user devices and Citrix.
  • Adhere to Change and Project Management processes and procedures.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related area.
  • 5+ years of experience in end user device engineering.
  • Experience in deployment of Windows 10 required.
  • Extensive experience with design and deployment of solutions using SCCM and Intune.
  • Strong professional and interpersonal skills, including exceptional customer service, creative problem solving, effective written and verbal communications, acute attention to detail and quality, and ability to self-manage.
  • Broad systems thinking: understands the connections and relationships across functions and entities for both internal and external constituencies.
  • Expert troubleshooting skills of complex technical end user device issues in large distributed environment.
  • Track record of excellent quality assurance and documentation skills. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, iManage, Literal Innova, and Citrix Remote Access.
  • Experience with MobileIron to manage mobile devices is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in VBScript and PowerShell scripting for application packaging, OSD deployment and task sequencing.
  • Experience with Office 365 a plus.
  • Experience with SQL or scripting languages are a plus.
  • Knowledge of end user device hardware, Ethernet, IP and networking.
  • Firm understanding of Microsoft Group Policies in a client/server environment and exposure to Windows Server.
  • MCSE or MOUS certification is a plus.
