Directs the administration and communication of cost-effective and compliant health, welfare, and retirement benefits and the implementation of policies and procedures for the U.S. and foreign offices. 

Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Responsible for the selection, training, performance management, and salary administration of the Benefits Department.
  • Propose changes to existing plans/policies and the adoption of new plans based on cost considerations, market trends, changing legislation, firm goals and participant demographics.
  • Ability to independently negotiate all benefits-related policy/contract renewals, fees and rate proposals.
  • Responsible for the preparation and design of all benefits communications, including periodic participant statements and reports.
  • Responsible for the review, audit, and reconciliation of the plans’ financial statements and valuations.
  • Responsibilities related to maintaining firm and client information are to be adhered to by all employees. This includes complying with the firm’s information security policies, protecting firm assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference, and reporting security events or potential events or other security risks to management.

  • Must have demonstrated success in directing the global benefits function of a large employer.
  • Strong working knowledge of standards, concepts, practices and procedures within the employee benefits field.
  • People management skills. Proven ability to clearly articulate vision, expectations and hold staff accountable to high standards and provide appropriate coaching.
  • Must have extensive hands-on benefit administration experience.
  • Ability to independently negotiate benefits plans and make plan changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct, and successfully manage, a wide variety of diverse projects.  Must possess excellent project management skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Word, and HRIS.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation, time management and organization skills.
  • Education and/or experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree in a related field preferred. Extensive knowledge of benefits and at least 12 years of senior management experience in benefits required.
