Events Manager

We are looking for an energetic, highly-organized events manager to join our business development team in New York. This position will work closely with practice group leaders, other partners and members of the business development team to plan and execute client events and corporate entertainment activities in support of the firm’s business development strategy. In addition to the seamless management of all logistics and execution related to client and other events, this position will also focus on the establishment of best practices and procedures, the integration of business development strategy with events, and the measurement of outcomes and other return on investment (ROI) analyses.   • Plan and manage a substantial calendar of client events, thought leadership seminars and corporate hospitality activities and ensure that they are executed to the highest possible standards;
  • Collaborate with the business development team and partners to determine event objectives and ensure events are consistent with the firm’s strategic goals;
  • Full management of all events, including the establishment of the initial brief, venue contracting, client, venue and delegate liaison, on-site event management, through to cost reconciliation;
  • Conduct venue searches and site visits, negotiate with suppliers, make recommendations and present proposals with full costs;
  • Track new venues and ideas for corporate entertainment and conference organization to ensure program remains leading edge;
  • Research, recommend and book sports and/or arts events, or tailor unique events, to meet client entertainment objectives;
  • Maintain event bookings with partner organizations to ensure the firm maximizes benefits made available through memberships;
  • Conduct detailed post-event evaluation and report findings to relevant audiences;
  • Travel to attend and manage various events and conferences as appropriate;
  • Monthly reporting to director of business development on status and ROI of all events during the month; and
  • Overall responsibility for purchasing and managing event merchandise and inventory.

  • Five years or more of event planning experience in an international business environment that requires buy-in and engagement of senior management or partners;
  • Proven event management experience, including conferences, seminars and other events;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of event planning including the ability to multi-task while working on several events at the same time;
  • Proven track record of successful client relationship management;
  • Knowledge of site selection process and history of working with major venues;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to listen, clarify and share information easily;
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and to be able to persuade and influence a range of people, including partners;
  • Excellent research and organizational skills;
  • Resilient and able to remain calm and positive under pressure;
  • Decisive and mature in judgement;
  • Commitment to the highest level of integrity and performance;
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced business environment;
  • Expected to monitor email outside of normal business hours and be available as needed; and
  • Willingness to travel, if needed.
