DevOps Manager

Bronx, NY



Looking to fill the position of DevOps Manager, who under the direction of the CIO will primarily be responsible to lead and coordinate all development resources. This position will plan, develop, and manage all aspects of application development and operations throughout the enterprise.  This role will ensure industry best practices on agile software development, cybersecurity and IT operations will be guiding principles and a core component of the culture.   The DevOps manager will collaborate with the application, infrastructure and support groups to continuously assess, plan, implement and sustain information systems and technology solutions for business needs. The DevOps Manager must have a degree or an advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a field related to the industry, and five years of experience in a related industry with three years of experience in a management role.


Job Duties
  • Plan, implement, and manage all facets of application development including staff, partners, projects, tools, methodologies, services and budget
  • Establish roadmap/vision and make plans to implement the roadmap/vision
  • Evaluate, select, and own a wide variety of technologies and tools
  • Establish, advocate and enforce best practices in build and deploy processes
  • Participate in the coding and software release process
  • Set up and maintain software development tools spanning source control, continuous integration/delivery, code review, etc.
  • Work with multiple software development teams internationally to address issues and improve quality and velocity of code
  • Build and test business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) plan, to ensure all processes and personnel are able to meet RPO and RTO set by the business
  • Manage projects and act as SCRUM Master
  • Coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordingly
  • Ensure that applicable project management practices are followed throughout project lifecycles
  • Create status reports as required; present findings to CIO
  • Hire supervise and mentor staff, encouraging professional development in order to retain a skilled team of IT professionals
  • Assist in developing and managing a budget for technology, IT services, and personnel
  • Assist in the writing of grants, RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs
  • Liaise with vendors and service providers to ensure efficient and cost-effective acquisition of technology purchases; oversee service delivery and service agreements
  • Stay informed on new or emerging trends and technologies that provide clear benefits to the organization, business partners, or customers
  • Act as a strong advocate for the IT department and its initiatives

Job Requirements
  • Degree or an advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a field related to the industry
  • Three years of experience in a management role, five years of experience in a related industry
  • Certifications or licenses appropriate to industry Working knowledge of build, release, and configuration management practices
  • Working knowledge of modern IT Operations tools
  • Passionate about staying current on trends and best practices in software development tooling
  • Knowledge about and experience with application management (build/Deploy) with Azure
  • Knowledge of source control tools (Git, SVN, and TFS), build/release, engineering, and monitoring tools (Jira, Confluence, Trello, ProjectLocker, Airbrake, JUnit, NCover, and NUnit) Programing experience/skills in popular languages/frameworks such as .NET, Java, C#, PHP, Ruby, or PowerShell, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux and Windows
  • Strong grasp of automation tools Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
