IT Trainer

Responsibilities
  • Conduct formal classroom training for up to twenty students during various shifts/days.
  • Conduct personal one-on-one training sessions.
  • Conduct remote training sessions with location offices using WebEx or Zoom software.
  • Conduct lab practice sessions.
  • Create video tutorials (using Camtasia, Captivate or equivalent) in conjunction with Information Systems standards.
  • Develop training materials, including course outlines, user guides, practice exercises, instructional sheets, and quick reference cards in conjunction with Information Systems standards.
  • Respond to requests for training classes or classroom reservations utilizing the intranet training calendar.
  • Maintain classroom conditions (cleanliness, equipment installed and fully operational) and supplies.
  • Maintain adequate quantities of training materials.
  • Collaborate with other IS Trainers and Computer Support staff to develop materials and presentations for upcoming classes.
  • Participate in Train-the-Trainer classes.
  • Attend Computer Support weekly Education Sessions and provide presentations as requested for specific topics. Cross train Computer Support staff on new programs and applications.
  • Interface and maintain effective communication with other Training and Information Systems staff.
  • Interface with internal and external departments to ensure effective communication and documentation regarding program additions, changes, etc.
  • Participate in software and hardware projects, rollouts and upgrades including testing, development and software support.
  • Solicit student evaluations upon completion of training classes and communicate results to Training Manager and appropriate department heads.
  • Complete weekly follow-up e-mails to users to maintain positive user perspective.
  • Acquire and maintain current knowledge of relevant product offerings and support policies to provide technically accurate solutions to users.
  • Attend ongoing training programs and professional meetings to stay abreast of current technologies.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining training resources on the Intranet and Wiki.
  • Assist with Word template creation and support for the various departments.
  • Periodically visit location offices and conduct formal classroom training or desk side training.
  • Location office trainers may be required to periodically visit the New York office/headquarters to meet with the New York Training Manager, trainers and support staff.
  • Assist with the setup and support of BlackBerry and iPhone devices, MobileIron, and MS Office.
  • Utilize the HEAT Call Logging program to enter and track tickets for all user requests initiated by or escalated to the local IT Coordinator.
  • Attend weekly trainers’ meeting held by the Training Manager.

Qualifications
  • A proven ability to develop class outlines and documentation is essential as well as video creation. Trainers must possess strong technical skills in
  • Microsoft Office 2016 products. Additional program experience such as Heat, InterAction, Acrobat, ChangePro, any third party numbering suite, iManage
  • or any document management system are a plus. All trainers will report directly to the Information Systems Training Manager within the Information Systems Department.
  • This candidate should possess excellent interpersonal, presentation, business/technical oral, and written communication skills. Moreover, the candidate must be a self-starter, have strong analytical skills, and be attentive to details. This position involves occasional travel to our location offices. An understanding of the firm’s practice, culture and support operations, especially its technology systems, is invaluable.


Education and/or Experience 
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years’ experience in formal technology training as well as a broad knowledge of computer software and IT technology.
  • Law firm experience and a background in legal software is preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
