Life Sciences Transactions - Mid-Level Associate

New York City, NY

seeking an associate with two to six years of experience with life sciences licensing and collaborations, the life sciences aspects of mergers and acquisitions and other IP-driven transactions in the Pharma/Biotech/MedTech space to join its premier, internationally recognized, and rapidly growing Life Sciences Transactions practice in the firm’s Silicon Valley or New York office.

The global Life Sciences Transactions practice advises companies and investors across the life sciences ecosystem —from big pharma to biotech, MedTech and beyond. We advise our clients on their most strategic, complex transactions, and we thrive on interdisciplinary, cross-border deals that require both creativity and intellectual rigor. We work seamlessly across jurisdictions and practices to solve 21st century problems for our clients, particularly those that present cutting-edge intellectual property, data, and antitrust issues.  Our team prides itself on being problem solvers and fostering a practical approach to negotiations.  Some of our representative matters include representing Johnson & Johnson on its $13.1 billion pending acquisition of Shockwave Medical, Novartis on its collaboration and license agreement with Ionis Pharmaceuticals for cardiovascular disease therapies and Capsida in its strategic collaboration with AbbVie to develop targeted gene therapies for eye diseases.

US offices have a vibrant, entrepreneurial atmosphere while being deeply integrated into the broader network. Both our US offices and our Life Sciences Transactions practice more generally are characterized by a focus on strategic and sustainable growth. We are a highly diverse team that prioritizes collegiality and professional development, including by mentoring associates and encouraging business development by all team members. It is important to us to both honor our nearly 300-year old heritage of legal excellence, and to make the firm an even better place for the next generation.

We are looking for energetic, intellectually curious applicants who have at least 2 years of experience supporting senior associates and partners in life sciences licensing and collaborations, the life sciences aspects of mergers and acquisitions and other IP-driven transactions in the Pharma/Biotech/Medtech space. Qualified applicants will be familiar with intellectual property concepts and licensing; have worked on the drafting of licensing and collaboration arrangements and other complex commercial transactions and provided support on M&A transactions; and will be excited to help build an extraordinary practice. A growth mindset is a pre-requisite!

Applicants must currently be licensed to practice law in California or New York.
