A fast-growing AI security startup is hiring its first Customer Engineer to own technical customer issues end-to-end during enterprise POCs. This is a high-impact, founding-style role for someone who is both a strong hands-on engineer and comfortable working directly with security teams at large enterprise customers.
You’ll work closely with the CTO, founders, and sales team to make sure technical issues never block a deal, renewal, or customer rollout. This is not a traditional support or sales engineering role — you’ll be expected to debug, reproduce, patch, and ship fixes against real customer code.
What You’ll Do
- Join active enterprise POC calls alongside the AE and founders
- Own customer-reported bugs and technical issues from first response through resolution
- Debug across customer environments, reproduce issues, and ship fixes directly
- Escalate deeper product issues to engineering while keeping customer momentum moving
- Identify recurring friction points and turn them into documentation, playbooks, tooling, or product improvements
- Help build the foundation for a customer engineering function from the ground up
- Make sure no POC or renewal is blocked by unresolved technical issues
What We’re Looking For
- Strong software engineering background, ideally full-stack or product engineering
- Actively writing and shipping code — this is a hands-on engineering role
- Ability to read, debug, and reason across multiple languages and codebases
- Experience with Python, TypeScript, SQL, CI/CD, GitHub/GitLab, or similar tools
- Comfortable working directly with technical customers, including senior engineers and security leaders
- Highly organized, responsive, and able to manage issues without letting details slip
- Strong ownership mindset and comfort operating in a fast-moving, early-stage environment
- AI-native development workflow using tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar
Strong Plus
- Application security experience, especially SAST, DAST, SCA, code scanning, or vulnerability remediation
- Experience as an AppSec engineer, security-focused software engineer, forward-deployed engineer, solutions engineer, or customer-facing product engineer
- Prior startup or founding-team experience
- Experience working with enterprise security teams
- Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, developer security workflows, or security tooling integrations
Compensation / Logistics
- Base salary: $140K–$170K
- Equity: meaningful early-stage equity
- Location: Remote
- Availability: ability to consistently cover roughly 6am–1pm Pacific is highly valuable
- Visa sponsorship: available for strong candidates
Why This Role Is Interesting
This is a rare chance to join a well-funded, early-stage AI security company at a high-leverage moment. The company has strong technical founders, meaningful enterprise traction, and backing from top-tier investors. You’ll be close to customers, close to the product, and close to the founders — with real ownership over how enterprise customers adopt and succeed with the platform.
