The Opportunity
Our client is a YC-backed, AI-native law firm reimagining how commercial legal services are delivered. The firm combines experienced U.S.-barred attorneys with AI-enabled workflows to provide high-quality drafting, review and negotiation without billable hours, unnecessary process or junior handoffs.
The firm is seeking an experienced commercial contracts attorney to own sophisticated technology transactions from intake through execution. You will advise clients ranging from venture-backed startups to public companies while helping develop AI-powered legal workflows, contracting playbooks and scalable knowledge systems.
Responsibilities
- Own complex commercial transactions from intake through negotiation and execution.
- Draft and negotiate SaaS, enterprise technology, vendor, partner, licensing, development and other commercial agreements.
- Advise clients on commercial risk, contract strategy and deal structure.
- Negotiate efficiently while maintaining exceptional work quality and client service.
- Use AI and legal technology as meaningful components of your daily workflow.
- Develop contract playbooks, templates, intake processes and knowledge-management systems.
- Partner with the product team to improve AI-enabled legal tools and workflows.
- Contribute beyond traditional legal work in a fast-moving startup environment.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar membership in good standing.
- At least eight years of commercial contracts and technology-transactions experience.
- Meaningful commercial practice experience at a leading law firm, ideally an AmLaw or technology-focused firm.
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of complex transactions.
- Deep experience with SaaS, enterprise, vendor, partner and IP licensing agreements.
- Experience advising technology companies, including high-growth or venture-backed businesses.
- Current, hands-on use of AI or advanced legal-technology tools.
- Experience developing playbooks, legal intake processes, templates or knowledge-management resources.
- Warm, confident and highly responsive client-facing communication style.
- Comfort working in a startup environment and contributing beyond a narrowly defined legal role.
- Stable professional progression and substantive, demonstrable deal experience.
Prior in-house experience at a technology company or venture/growth-equity fund is valued when combined with meaningful traditional law-firm training.
