Senior/Staff Backend Engineer — Identity & Access (Remote)

A high-growth, remote-first SaaS company building an AI-powered platform that helps small businesses manage and grow their operations is hiring a Senior or Staff Backend Engineer to take significant ownership of identity and access management across a rapidly scaling product. This is a hands-on IC role for someone who enjoys solving complex authentication, authorization, and permissions problems while influencing broader technical direction.

What you’ll do

• Design and build authentication, authorization, and identity infrastructure
• Develop SSO, access-management, and permissions services at scale
• Own complex backend projects from architecture through production
• Improve the reliability, security, and scalability of business-critical systems
• Partner with product and engineering teams to translate customer needs into durable technical solutions
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews, mentorship, and thoughtful decision-making

What they’re looking for

• 5+ years of backend, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience
• Hands-on experience building authentication, authorization, or identity systems
• Experience with SSO, access management, or authorization services at scale
• Strong distributed-systems fundamentals
• Proficiency with TypeScript or JavaScript; Node.js experience is highly relevant
• A track record of increasing ownership and technical scope
• Comfort operating in a fast-moving, high-accountability environment

Details

• Remote within the United States or Canada, excluding Quebec
• $210,000-250,000 base salary, depending on level and experience
• Meaningful equity
• Candidates must already be authorized to work in the U.S. or Canada
