Associate Immigration Attorney — Business Immigration

Location: Remote (United States)

Compensation: $170,000–$200,000 base salary + performance bonus + equity

Experience: Ideally 1–3 years of practicing business immigration law

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a venture-backed, AI-native legal technology startup that is reimagining how business immigration services are delivered. The company combines experienced immigration counsel with modern technology and AI-powered workflows to help startup founders, entrepreneurs, engineers, and other highly skilled professionals navigate the U.S. immigration process.

We are seeking an Associate Immigration Attorney to join the team in an early, high-impact legal hire. This is a unique opportunity for an attorney who enjoys practicing immigration law but also wants to help shape how legal services are delivered through technology.

You will work closely with highly experienced immigration counsel, take ownership of immigration matters, advise clients directly, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve the tools and processes supporting the practice.

This is a hands-on legal position, not simply a legal operations or technology advisory role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage employment-based and business immigration matters from initial client consultation through petition preparation, filing, and follow-up.
  • Prepare, draft, review, and file immigration petitions, including O-1A, EB-1A, EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW), and H-1B cases.
  • Develop case strategies, evaluate eligibility, identify evidentiary requirements, and prepare persuasive legal arguments.
  • Advise startup founders, entrepreneurs, engineers, researchers, and other highly skilled professionals on immigration options and strategies.
  • Draft petition letters, legal briefs, supporting documentation, and responses to Requests for Evidence (RFEs).
  • Communicate directly with clients, providing clear guidance and managing expectations throughout the immigration process.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve AI-assisted drafting, document review, case management, and legal workflows.
  • Help develop standardized templates, playbooks, quality-control processes, and scalable procedures while maintaining high standards of legal accuracy.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback that improve the efficiency, quality, and client experience of immigration services.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Ideally 1–3 years of experience practicing business or employment-based immigration law.
  • Hands-on experience preparing and managing immigration petitions, particularly H-1B, O-1, EB-1, EB-2, or related employment-based matters.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and persuasive writing skills.
  • Experience communicating directly with clients and managing legal matters with appropriate independence.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple active matters.
  • Interest in technology, AI, and improving traditional legal processes.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Preferred, but Not Required:

  • Experience with O-1A, EB-1A, or EB-2 NIW petitions, including extraordinary ability and national interest cases.
  • Experience representing startups, founders, entrepreneurs, or technology professionals.
  • Background at a business immigration boutique, immigration practice group, or large law firm.
  • Familiarity with additional immigration categories such as L-1, TN, or E-2.
  • New York bar admission.
  • Experience with legal technology, automation, or AI-assisted legal tools.

Attorneys with strong H-1B or broader business immigration experience are encouraged to apply, even without extensive O-1 or EB-1 experience.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Competitive compensation: $170K–$200K base salary, plus a target performance bonus of approximately 5% and meaningful equity participation.
  • Remote flexibility: Work from anywhere in the United States
  • Early-stage impact: Join as an early legal hire and help shape the firm's practices, processes, and growth.
  • Experienced mentorship: Work directly with senior immigration counsel with decades of experience.
  • AI and technology exposure: Collaborate with engineers and product teams developing the next generation of legal services.
  • Substantive legal work: Own client matters, develop case strategies, and build meaningful client relationships.
  • Benefits: Health insurance, paid time off, bar dues, and continuing legal education support.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a junior business immigration attorney who combines strong legal fundamentals with an entrepreneurial, technology-forward mindset.

You enjoy substantive legal work, can write persuasively, are comfortable interacting directly with clients, and are excited about building something new. You do not need to be an AI expert or have experience at a startup. What matters is your willingness to learn, adapt, take ownership, and contribute to a modern approach to practicing immigration law.
