Application Engineer

Reporting to the Desktop and Applications Manager, the Applications Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the firm’s desktop infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions to support the firm’s initial MacOS environment. Although the firm is primarily on Windows OS, we are moving toward supporting Mac OS. The candidate will focus on the development of the firm’s MacOS environment, as well as supporting the firm’s Windows OS infrastructure.

They will have in-depth experience with packaging, deploying, and debugging firm-managed applications. They are also self-motivated, possess problem-solving skills, and recommend new technologies/processes to improve performance. The ability to work directly with and effectively communicate with all levels of personnel is essential for this position. Strong customer service skills with a focus on being responsive and timely.

Essential Functions

  • Manage firm desktop applications on MacOS and Windows.
  • Create optimal design and implementation plan for managing Mac PCs in an enterprise environment.
  • Manage remote access environments (Citrix, AVD, VPN)
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure that software applications meet user needs and are delivered on time.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of software applications.
  • Troubleshoot and debug software applications as needed.
  • Develop and maintain software documentation.
  • Maintain and deploy security and OS updates.
  • Manage PC’s and applications using management systems such as SCCM and Intune.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must Have:

  • A minimum of seven years of IT experience, with five years in applications engineer role.
  • Expert knowledge of MacOS including application deployment and management.
  • Experience with managing Mac computers in a corporate environment / network.
  • A solid knowledge of desktop management applications such as SCCM and Intune.
  • Knowledgeable with Windows application packaging and deployment
  • Knowledgeable with scripting languages such as PowerShell, .NET, or Python.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with co-workers, management, legal and administrative staff
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with the IT organization, project, and application development teams.
  • Self-motivated with a hardworking and proactive approach
  • Ability to analyze the architecture and structure of an organization’s environment and recommend areas of improvement.

Pluses:

  • Experience with Azure systems such as SSO, conditional access policies, PowerApps
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting
  • Apple Certified Support Professional

Education and Certification

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree or equivalent or five years relevant on the job work experience.

Salary: $130 - $160K
