KM Research Systems Analyst (1 day in office)

A professional services organization is seeking a Knowledge Management & Research Systems Analyst to support attorneys and internal stakeholders through advanced legal research, knowledge systems management, and technology enablement. This role plays a key part in delivering timely, high-quality research insights while strengthening firmwide knowledge infrastructure and workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex, high-level research to support client matters and internal initiatives.
  • Analyze, synthesize, and tailor research findings to meet specific stakeholder needs.
  • Create and maintain actionable intelligence alerts related to clients, matters, cases, and industry topics.
  • Manage and maintain research and knowledge resources to ensure firmwide accessibility.
  • Support knowledge management initiatives, including evaluation and implementation of new tools and technologies.
  • Maintain practice-specific knowledge resources and contribute to intranet content and usability.
  • Partner closely with colleagues, vendors, and external libraries to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Balance multiple research projects while managing deadlines, costs, and resource constraints.
  • Track research time for internal reporting or client billing purposes.
  • Conduct detailed intake discussions to clarify scope, objectives, and research needs.
  • Evaluate research platforms and technologies for quality, accuracy, relevance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Stay current on developments in legal research, knowledge management, and information systems through ongoing professional learning.
  • Participate in special projects and provide overflow or backup support as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal research environment.
  • Hands-on experience with a broad range of legal research and knowledge management platforms (e.g., intranet tools, research databases, docketing and analytics systems).
  • Strong proficiency with standard business software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Demonstrated independent judgment, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong client-service mindset and responsiveness in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort working with rotating schedules, including occasional extended coverage hours.
  • Ability to collaborate with attorneys, vendors, and technical partners to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Reporting Structure

This role reports to senior leadership responsible for knowledge management and information research functions.
