Infrastructure Engineer - Unified Communications ( NYC or DC)

The Infrastructure Engineer will maintain infrastructure services, applications and appliances. This includes maintaining the local and wide area networks worldwide as well as the firm’s global unified communications system.  This position involves providing 3rd level IT assistance for hardware and software issues.  The individual must be able to adapt to change, balance competing demands and manage demands outside of traditional business hours.

  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of network and unified communications infrastructure resources
  • Ensure security of network against vulnerabilities, exploits, malware, breaches and other security threats
  • Assist with development of procedures, policies and standards for infrastructure operations, including maintenance and disaster recovery
  • Document operating procedures regarding all software and configurations
  • Liaise with IT departments and vendors to support various requests
  • Responsible for management of a project or task from inception to completion with management oversight
  • Be responsible for the production and other environments ensuring effective service delivery and adherence to installation standards, procedures and best practices, including those established by the world-wide IT department
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the hardware and software configuration, the application portfolio, procedures and practices
  • Ensure top quality IT services are attainable with available resources
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and escalate them to the appropriate internal or external service provider
  • Continuously contribute to the knowledge base of the IT team by updating them with new issues raised and new resolutions or interim workarounds found
  • Show initiative to further enhance or improve IT services
  • Evaluate and escalate system alerts for investigation and resolution
  • Maintain relationships with vendors

  • Strong experience and knowledge in area of specialization
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of related experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Experience working with employees at all levels including senior management
  • Good judgment and ability to structure work according to the firm’s priorities
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Desire to improve technical skills
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed
  • Availability to travel

Technical Qualifications
  • Local and wide area network services (wired and wireless, routing, switching, SD-WAN (Silver Peak preferred))
  • Unified communications system, including CUCM clusters, branch office voice gateways, internal and PSTN routing, voicemail, etc.
  • Basic IP infrastructure (DHCP, DNS) and network security services (RADIUS, TACACS+, 802.1x, etc.)
  • Teleconferencing infrastructure and services, both cloud and on-premises (Zoom, Webex, Cisco Expressway-C, Expressway-E, Cisco Meeting Server, etc.)
  • SIP and other integrations of communications and teleconferencing systems with external SaaS providers and other parties
  • Automatic Call Distribution systems
  • Network and server support for audio-visual services and management systems for conference room applications, integration with teleconferencing
  • Familiarity with network firewalls, SASE, site-to-site and remote access Virtual Private Networks and IPS/IDS
  • Basic knowledge of conference rooms technologies, e.g., Crestron and Polycom
  • Familiarity with UCaaS services (Webex Cloud Calling, Microsoft Teams, RingCentral, Zoom Phone) is a plus
